When I was younger. The words "date" and "nerd" would never be found in a sentence together. PewDiePie (Felix Arvid Ulf Kjellberg) is a 25 year old Youtube sensation. He is a Swedish web-based comedian and producer, best known for his Let's Play commentaries and vlogs on YouTube. In other words, he's living any geek's dream life. PewDiePie is playing video games for a living and making a lot of money while doing it. At 39.4 million followers, PewDiePie's channel has the biggest amount of subscribers on YouTube. Pretty darn impressive. Last year, his channel made over $4 million from ad sales.

In November 2014, Felix launched a contest for web developers worldwide to create a video game in only 72 hours. The ten best games as voted by internet users would be presented on PewDiePie's channel. Among the 734 games created for the contest, a small Montreal studio called Outerminds, developed a retro video game based on PewDiePie himself and his online community. "PewDiePie: Legend of the Brofist" took fifth place. However, the developers received a pleasant surprise in the process. PewDiePie contacted the studio through a Twitter private message.

Sad news was brought to us today with the death of Sir Christopher Lee. The British actor passed away at the age of 93 on June 7th. The decision was made by his wife of fifty years to hold off the announcement of his death to the press, so she could inform his family first.

We will fondly remember him as our favourite childhood villain. Lee expertly portrayed the roles of Saruman in Lord of the Rings, Count Dooku in the Star Wars prequel series, and Dracula in a sequence of Hammer Horror films. He was a dedicated and talented actor (and also the only member of the Lord Of The Rings Cast to have met J. R. R. Tolkien) and his death can only be described as a tragic loss.

Simply put, Tam-Tams is one of our favourite events in Montreal. Every Sunday, Montrealers from around the city gather near the Sir George-Étienne Cartier monument in Mount Royal park for an afternoon of dancing, drumming, LARPing, and more. There are lots of different people at this event, but they tend to fall in a few categories. We here at MTL Blog have done the research (meaning we like to hang out at Tam-Tams), and we’re providing you with a guide to the sorts of folks you can find there on a typical Sunday afternoon. Here are 10 types of people you’ll see at Tam-Tams.
