The Quebec government has unveiled a new plan to revamp the province's healthcare system over the next three years. Among 50 proposed updates, Health Minister Christian Dubé emphasized increasing health sector hiring, centralizing information sharing, and improving access to care.

"We have two objectives: that all Quebecers have the best patient experience... [and] that the health network is a choice employer," said Dubé.

A majority of Quebecers still approve of Premier François Legault, according to a recent Angus Reid Institute survey — despite the fact that the population has grown increasingly critical of his government's handling of the pandemic.

Legault's approval rating currently sits at 55%, the survey says. That's a big drop from his peak of 77% in May 2020 — and it's his lowest rating since his election in October 2018. But Legault's approval rating is nonetheless second-highest in Canada, behind only Nova Scotia Premier Tim Houston, who has 57% approval.

A week after being elected mayor of Longueuil, on Montreal's South Shore, Catherine Fournier announced she would be cutting her salary by $65,000 per year.

Speaking on Tout le monde en parle, the 29-year-old mayor said reducing her salary is one of the first things she wants to do at the first city council meeting on November 23.

Mary Simon's approval rating is lower in Quebec compared to the rest of Canada, a poll released Wednesday showed, because the new governor general can't speak French.

An Angus Reid Institute poll of 2,049 Canadians found only 49% of Quebecers approve of her appointment compared to 74% of respondents in the rest of the country.

I have so many friends and acquaintances who just LOVE to complain about how horrible Montreal is. Whether it's cold winters, bad STM service, taxes, people... everything seems to bother them. I'm not going to lie, I was one of these people until I realized one simple truth.

Going out and seeing the same old people, doing the same old things got me frustrated. I also got annoyed with how cold Montreal winters are and how much I would love to be on a beach instead. I didn't like that I needed to wait long hours to get free (!!!) medical assistance. Local mentality would very often contradict what I believe in as well. I was constantly complaining to my friends and asking my family why they haven't immigrated to some other place with a beach and surfer boys. All in all, I wasn't happy with Montreal. Or so I thought.

Last night was a thing of beauty, considering the Montreal Canadiens won their home opener as well as their record breaking 5th straight win to start a season and to top it all off the "possible" next Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau showed up to McLean's Pub on Peel street to watch the Habs game, drink beer and take photos with fans.

We gotta say that no matter who you are voting for on Monday, October 19th 2015 you gotta admit that was a cool move by Trudeau.
