If you’re been checking out this space for the past few weeks, you know that I’ve worked as a server for a pretty long stretch that continues into the present, and another thing I’ve never been content with is the amount of aggressively flirtatious people that waiters/waitresses have to serve.

Specifically: this one guy that would come into the bar every week on the emptiest nights, sit his ass down at the bar, order a pitcher of beer to himself, go on to tell me to never trust anyone, and then tell me he loved me every half hour or so.

Going out to a bar for drinks with your friends is great. You can relax, de-stress, and forget about your problems. That is until your annoyingly disinterested bartender stands awkwardly next to your group of friends after having delivered you your drinks with their hand out. They want a tip.

Granted not all places do this. There are some bars where you can order your drinks when you want them, the barman brings them to you, and you pay and tip for all your drinks at the end of the night.

There's all this talk about how a server needs to act to provide good service and get a good tip, etc. What about the other end of it, though? Servers get treated shittily, constantly, because restaurant etiquette is so often overlooked. The customer-server relationship is a two-way street, and you gotta give a little to get a little.
