Honestly, there's nothing on this earth like a delicious scoop (or three) of ice cream. Especially in the middle of summer, when Montreal gets notoriously hot and humid.
Of course, there's nothing else on this earth like a good, old-fashioned road trip. And when you're road tripping to a legit magical, awesome ice cream destination? Yeah. Watch out, because great times are ahead, friends.

1. La Cigale
About two hours away from Montreal, La Cigale is seriously the perfect ice cream road trip destination. Not only is this spot relatively close, but their ice cream is out of this world. They offer some super cool flavours - like matcha and malted milk - made with high quality ingredients, which makes for an ice cream experience unlike any other.
The best part? You can enjoy a cone full of your favourite frozen treat in their gorgeous outdoor garden. All the wins? All the wins.
2. Coaticook
For most of us, "Coaticook" is synonymous with "mouthwateringly delicious ice cream." They serve tubs of it at pretty much every grocery store... but, friends, trust me when I say that there's nothing like grabbing a cone straight from the source.
Not only is it pretty much a requirement of all ice cream lovers to get themselves to Coaticook, but it's pretty much a requirement of everyone who's a lover of dairy. Seriously, dairy anything. Coaticook also sells their own cheese curds (!!), so you know that an ice cream road trip up to Coaticook will result in coming back with much less money and a whole lot more dairy products. It's okay, though. It's totally worth it.
3. Cremerie Chocolat Royal
1000 Avenue Royale, Ville de Québec, QC
This Quebec City ice cream spot is seriously adorable. More than having a warm, friendly, and all-around awesome vibe, though, Cremerie Chocolat Royal serves up some ice cream that is legit mindblowing.
Always incredibly tasty, you can pretty much bank that at Cremerie Chocolat Royal, you'll be getting as much of the freshest and most delicious classic ice cream you can possibly fit into your mouth. Wrap this up with their super fair prices, and you've got the recipe for your new fave ice cream road trip destination.
4. Chocolats Favoris
3600 Boulevard des Forges, Trois-Rivières, QC
This spot is easily one of the most popular chocolatiers in Quebec, and one of the best places in the province to grab some seriously on-point ice cream.
What is it that makes this ice cream so delicious? Many, many things: First of all, the quality of ice cream is pretty much unlike anything else. The real kicker, though? You can dip that ace ice cream in any one of 12 coatings. That's right, friends. They've got everything from classic milk chocolate to dulce de leche, and everything in between. So go ahead and hop in the car, friends. Your cookes and cream dipped cone is waiting.

5. Maître Glacier
301 Chemin de la Canardière, Ville de Québec, QC
Despite being all over Quebec, this spot has all the charm and quality of a small, lesser-known ice cream shop.
The ice cream here is always fresh and tasty, and with classic ice creams and flavours, you know there's absolutely no going wrong. One of their biggest hits, though? Their ice cream cakes. The cakes at Maitre Glacier are delicious, and are served in super unique flavours, such as their Bombe Citronee, which features lemon gelato and graham cookies, or their Caramello Fruite, with raspberry and mango sorbet and caramel gelato.
6. Tutto Gelato
716 Rue Saint-Jean, Ville de Québec, QC
If you're in the mood for some seriously on point gelato, trust me when I say that Quebec City's Tutto Gelato is more than worth the travel time.
First of all, their gelato is on a whole other level of awesome, with rich, decadent, fruity flavours that seriously make you feel like you're eating actual happiness. Second of all, their flavours? Super unique, and super awesome. A selection of their delicious gelatos include rice and cinnamon, wine-soaked raisin, and avocado (!!).
7. Le Frisson
1041 Rte de l'Église, Ville de Québec, QC
Although this Quebec City spot serves up some seriously delicious ice cream, the real star of the show? Their unbelievably delicious frozen yogurt.
Seriously, the frozen yogurt from Le Frisson is unlike anything you've ever tasted before. Fresh, tasty, fruity, with just the right amount of zesty sweetness, the froyo here is more than worth the trek out to Quebec City.
8. Virevent
1517 Rue Fleury E, Montreal, QC
I've given a lot of love to Virevent before - but honestly, they deserve all the love and more. This spot makes all of their ice cream in-house, with high-quality ingredients, and it really makes for a premium ice cream experience.
Their soft-serve ice cream is by far some of the best I've ever tasted, and the fact that you can dip their fluffy, fresh soft-serve into an assortment of Belgian chocolates (my personal favourite is the cappuccino flavoured one) just ties everything together in a yummy, sweet little bow.
9. La Lichette
25 Rue Principale Ouest, Magog, QC
Lover of gelato? Then you're going to fall in love with La Lichette. All of their gelatos are made in-house, and are super fresh, with just the right amount of sweetness. (Sidenote: Bonus points for carrying banana gelato, which just might be the best flavour of gelato in the whole world).
Of course, this Magog spot also boasts soft-serve ice creams and sorbets that are purely out of this world delicious. So, friends, if you're planning a roadtrip sometime soon, make sure you put Magog's La Lichette on your list of places that you absolutely have to visit.
10. La Diperie
68 Ave des Pins E, Montréal, QC
Honestly, La Diperie is ice cream bae. If you've never been here, I really can't tell you enough to legit drop everything and get yourself to this spot.
With delicious, fresh ice cream, dipped in the creamiest chocolate you've ever tasted, La Diperie pretty much proves why it's so hugely popular among Montrealers. The cherry on top, though? The fact that you can dip your chocolate-coated cone into anything you want (pretzels, pistachios, Oreos, the list goes on).
11. Mazarin
204 Rue St-Charles, Sainte-Thérèse, QC
Located about a half an hour from Montreal, this Sainte-Thérèse ice cream place will seriously make all of your dairy dreams come true. With sweet, creamy soft-serve, this ice cream shop truly serves one spot-on cone. Their true masterpieces, though, are their chocolate sundaes, which combine their dreamy ice cream with delicious chocolate syrup for an ice cream experience that's pretty much out of this world.
