Totally worth a day trip!

6 Tax Free Outlet Malls Close To Montreal

Quebec offers its residents many advantages, but it's not exactly cheap. That's why so many people in Quebec venture outside the province to do their seasonal shopping.

New Hampshire is an especially popular shopping destination. The New England state has no sales tax and, thus, attracts crowds of weekend shoppers from the neighbouring, tax-heavy states of Massachusetts and Maine. Quebeckers, too, make their way south to the "Granite State" to load up on cheap goods.

Listed below are 6 outlet malls in the sales-tax free state that are totally worth a day trip for Montrealers. All of these involve a voyage through the White Mountains National Forest and past several quaint colonial villages. The malls and outlets present the perfect opportunity to plan a New England excursion.

TL;DR These outlet malls in the sales-tax free state of New Hampshire are totally worth a day trip for Montrealers. Below each entry are links to travel information.

The Mall of New Hampshire

The Mall of New Hampshire is a four-hour drive from downtown Montreal. There are over 60 outlets to shop in the sprawling complex.

Tanger Outlets, Tilton

The Tilton Tanger Outlets are my personal favourite on this list. The enormous outdoor mall includes dozens of storefronts, most of which have perpetual sales.

The outlets are four hours from Montreal by car.

Pheasant Lane Mall

The Pheasant Lane Mall includes popular American department stores, but its greatest attraction might be its food selection: Red Robin and Auntie Anne's Pretzels are definitely the most popular. There's also a Dunkin' Donuts for us DD-less people in Quebec.

The mall is a 4.5 hour drive from Montreal.

Merrimack Premium Outlets

The Merimack Outlets are also a 4.5 hour drive from Montreal and have a Disney outlet. Enough said.

Settlers' Green

Settlers' Green is another outdoor mall at the foot of the White Mountains, just under four hours from Montreal. It hosts regular festivals and special events so might be worth a trip on a long weekend.

L.L.Bean Factory Outlets

L.L.Bean is a famous New England-based retailer that sells everything from high-quality outdoor gear, to leisure clothing, to cute little trinkets. The tax-free outlets in New Hampshire are especially popular.

There are three locations. The closest outlet is less than four hours from Montreal.
