TL;DR Here are 8 Christmas titles on Netflix Canada that are so terrible and mind-numbing, you must avoid watching them at all cost.
While there are a couple iconic Christmas classics available on Netflix Canada, the overall selection is pretty terrible. A lot of the essential classics like Home Alone, Jingle All The Way, and The Santa Clause are missing – very disappointing to say the least.
In an effort to save you precious time, here are some of the Christmas titles on Netflix Canada that are so terrible and mind-numbing, you must avoid watching them at all cost.
All of them hit under 50% on Rotten Tomato. Most scored below 25%. Yikes.
1. Christmas Inheritance
Rotten Tomatoes score: 50%
A writer from Cosmopolitain magazine described this movie like this: "if you get through this sober, you deserve a medal! Like, a real one! From the government!" That, combined with the low RT score, is enough to say "no thank you" to this Netflix original.
2. Merry Kissman
Rotten Tomatoes score: 23%
If the nauseating pun of a title didn't already tip you off as to how bad this movie will be, maybe the 23% RT score will. One critic even called it "worse than stale fruitcake." Harsh. We can all tell how this movie is going to end, and we don't even need to watch it. Enough said.
3. Beethoven's Christmas Adventure
Rotten Tomatoes score: 12%
This isn't anything close to the 1992 classic family comedy about the whacky mis-adventures of a sweet Saint Bernard dog. Beethoven A Christmas Adventure hasn't even been reviewed by critics, they didn't even want to touch it, that's how bad it is. Avoid at all cost.
4. Once Upon A Holiday
Rotten Tomatoes score: 24%
The cringe-worthy cover of this film says it all. Lackluster acting, formulaic romantic comedy plotline, and just pure torture. Everything about this movie screams predictable and flat. And it has 23% score on Rotten Tomatoes to prove it.
5. Holiday Breakup
Rotten Tomatoes score: 30%
Finally an original film that breaks out of the tired holiday romance trope? Close but no dice. Despite the original concept, this anti-romcom Christmas movie falls flat on its face. Whatever you do: don't watch.
6. The Princess Switch
Rotten Tomatoes score: 54%
Unless you're a pre-pubescent teenage girl, this brand new Netflix original Christmas movie is on the "avoid at all cost" list. The film has been called "sweet" by critics, sure. But is it a classic holiday hit? With a 54% on Rotten Tomatoes, it's far from it.
7. Christmas Crush
Rotten Tomatoes score: 28%
A woman goes to her High School reunion – which happens to fall around Christmas – in hopes of winning back the one that got away. The premise already sounds like I lost 90 minutes of my life. With 28% on RT, it seems like everyone agrees.
8. Daddy's Home 2
Rotten Tomatoes score: 19%
Despite the A-list cast, this 2017 film totally falls flat. One critic even called it the "cinematic equivalent of getting another fruit cake as a holiday gift." It seems like people hate fruitcake almost as much as they hate this movie.
