The Montreal SPCA boldly states on their Facebook adoption page that owning a dog is a privilege, not a right.
They are certainly right about that. Studies have show that having a furry companion improves happiness and well-being in owners. Not only that, but adopting a dog is a great way to give back to the community and help animals in need. Double happiness boost!
That said, moving season is around the corner, and sadly during this time of year, many dogs will be abandoned. That's when the SPCA comes in to help and try to give these loving and gentle animals a good home.
So - if you've been considering getting a dog, or just want to see what's out there, have a look at the SPCA page. Adoption just might be the good deed you've been waiting for.
