I'm sure I'm not alone when I say that driving relaxes me. When you get out on the road and are able to just drive time sort of slows down and you can really think for a while.

What's great about driving is some of the amazing things you can see along the way. If you're going on a long drive you're bound to come across some great views and maybe even some rare wildlife, especially sine we live in Canada. 

Quebec actually has a bunch of driving routes dedicated to various sites that this province is famous for. Below you'll find routes that pass by bodies of water, routes that pass by mountains and routes that pass through cute Quebec towns. The views are all magnificent and I guarantee they'll take your breath away.

Scenic Drives In Quebec By The Water: 

1. The Navigator's Route

Route des Navigateurs takes tourists along a 292 mile stretch of the St. Lawrence River. You can start in Baie-du-Febvre or start a little bit farther along in Quebec City. You'll visit three main areas of Quebec, Centre du Quebec, Chaudiere-Appalaches, and Bas-Saint-Laurant.

Along the way you'll get to stop for amazing sights where you have the opportunity to go padling, explore national parks, and visit historic lighthouses!

2. The Fjord Route

Route du Fjord takes drivers, bikers and even walkers along a crazy adventure passing the magnificent Saguenay Fjord! The route is a total of 235 km long and has stops in quaint Quebec towns, beachy shorelines and national parks. You can enjoy hiking, paddling and camping excursions along the way!

The drive starts in Baie-Saint-Catherine and should last about 1-2 days with options to extend of course.

3. The Whale Route

Drive the Route des Baleines starting in Tadouossac to get the chance to see the majestic sea creatures up close and personal! This route takes drivers for 300 km along the coastline of Eastern Quebec. Enjoy stops in the quaint seaside towns of Quebec, see shipwrecks, lighthouses and eat tons of great seafood!

4. The Gaspesie Tour

You can start this drive right here in Montreal, or in Quebec city and drive for 1235 km! It's obviously a long trip, but the views are completely worth it. This drive loops around the famous Gaspe Peninsula and you'll also get views of Perce Rock!

1. Mountain Road

Explore the magnificent mountainous region of the Laurentians in Southern Quebec. This route is 121-km long and will take drivers through the quaint towns of Saint Urbain, Notre-Dame-des-Monts, and Saint-Aime-des-Lacs along the way! You'll also get to enjoy a stop at the breathtaking Grands Jardins and Hautes-Gorges-de-la-Riviere-Malbaie national parks!

2. The Summit Drive

The Summit Drive takes drivers to various peaks in the Eastern Townships of Quebec. The drive is a total of 193-km with stops at towering mountains like Mount Megantic, Mount Ham and various cute Quebec towns. Expect some serious hiking trails to get to the peaks, but with breathtaking views once you reach the top!

1. The King's Road

Chemin du Roy is the drive from Montreal to Quebec City or vice versa. This road is rich with history, dating back all the way to 1737 when it was decided to create a 'royal road' that stretched between the two cities. Along the way you'll drive through cute old towns like Trois-Rivieres and Repentigny!

2. The New France Route

This route takes drivers less than 35 miles from Quebec City to the coast of the St. Lawrence River at Cote-de-Beaupre. You'll pass through small quaint Quebec towns along the way where you'll get to explore little shops, churches and shimmering lakes!

3. The Wine Route

Have you ever wanted to take a tour of Quebec's best wineries? Well, there's a scenic route dedicated to it! La Route des Vins takes drivers through 22 vineyards in Quebec where you can enjoy some of the best artisanal wines. This drive also takes you by sites like Brome Lake, Mount Sutton and small Quebec towns!
