The Government Is Still Fvcking Over Montreal Businesses

Well it looks like the government has found new and wonderful ways to stop Montreal businesses from making money. Starting a business isn't that easy. You need to study hard, come up with an idea, develop it into a business model, apply for a permit, establish your business and hope like hell you actually make some money.

Sounds easy enough right? Now all you need to do is to conform to all the insane rules the government will impose on your business. You have to pay your taxes and you have to prepare for the sea of bullshit that may be coming your way.

No, I'm not talking about language laws,I already discussed that in the past. I'm talking about the fun new ways the government has found to fuck with your business.

This city has a hard-on for preventing clients from reaching your business. Recently this has been done by removing all possible free parking in the area. Vignettes in the plateau used to be in effect from 5:00 pm to 11:00 pm, so you could pretty much park anywhere during the day. But now the vignettes start at 9:00 am and the spots that used to be open to everyone also have vignette restrictions. So many in fact, that Plateau business owners have started a petition to have the vignettes removed.

One Mount Royal business has been forced to close it's doors this week. The business was located on Avenue Marquette, but recently, Mayor Luc Ferrandez decided to change the direction of some of the street. Which means the business lost 20% of it's client traffic.

If that wasn't enough, many businesses are suffering simply due to the endless construction happening in their respective areas. When Théo Dranias's business was suffering, he decided to put up some removable signs to draw people to his restaurant. When the city found out, they threatened to fine him up to $4000 a day if he did not remove them. So basically, they're fucking this guy from both ends, ruining his business with endless construction and fining him when he attempts to rally more clients.

Can't wait to see what they come up with next.
