The COVID-19 pandemic continues to grow, and health systems around the world are being challenged to respond. As the number of infected people in Canada continues to rise, the Government of Canada is looking for nurses to help deal with the epidemic. In a post on its website, the Public Health Agency of Canada has indicated that it is creating a directory of nurses to meet the growing demands of COVID-19.

Given the rapidly changing situation, the agency has not established a specific number of positions to be filled but says it needs quarantine officers, nurse managers, and other types of registered nurses — among other things.

The selected individuals have tasks including assessing the health of travellers returning from abroad. They will also work with health authorities to ensure effective management of the outbreak.

The Public Health Agency is currently recruiting temporary staff. We are talking about casual or temporary positions to be filled in Quebec and across Canada.

Interested individuals must absolutely hold a registered nursing title in a Canadian province or territory.

The agency also requires experience in public or community health, travel nursing or infectious diseases and in conducting health assessments. This is a critical time as the number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Quebec, and the rest of Canada continues to grow.

A university degree in nursing or other relevant specialties is also an asset.
