The Michael Jackson Documentary "Leaving Neverland" Aired Yesterday And Twitter Is Out Of Control In Response

In case you hadn't already heard, a new documentary hit HBO on Sunday night, with people tuning in from all across the continent. The film, Leaving Neverland, uncovered the allegations of child sexual abuse against Michael Jackson during the '90s. The documentary takes a look at two men who have accused the infamous pop star of sexually assaulting them when they were children. Perspectives from relatives of Jackson were also included.

The first half of the documentary dives deep into what it was like to be within Jackson's "inner circle" as a child. The men confess that they were exposed to adult material as well as introduced, by Michael Jackson himself, to inappropriate acts as children. They say they didn't realize this amounted to sexual assult until they were in their 30s.

TL;DR "Leaving Neverland," an HBO documentary, focuses on the allegations of sexual abuse against Michael Jackson. Many are calling out the documentary on Twitter, while others support the claims made. The second part of the documentary, 'After Neverland' will air on HBO Monday night. Read below with caution, content may be sensitive for some readers.

It didn't take too long after the documentary was released on HBO for thousands of online personas, such as celebrities and activists, to flood Twitter with tweets in support of the victims. On the other hand, many are also in total denial of the allegations against Jackson.

Needless to say, people weren't afraid to express their opinion:

Michael Jackson was a serial pedophile. Go watch #LeavingNeverland

Michael Jackson was the most believable pedophile ever that people have a hard time believing was a pedophile. #LeavingNeverland

Many refuse to believe that Jackson abused children.

No matter how beloved the abuser, it is imperative to believe survivors. #MJ#LeavingNeverland

I’m floored by the courage of James Safechuck and Wade Robson’s courage in relating the details of how they were groomed and abused by Michael Jackson. It couldn’t be easy especially knowing how many refuse to still see Jackson as a pedophile. #LeavingNeverland

As a former child actress, I can’t help but watch this documentary and think about how wrong it is for children to be put in the position of performing for the soul purpose of pleasing adults. It’s such a slippery, dangerous, often abusive slope. #LeavingNeverland

But it's pretty obvious that most viewers were completely outraged by the documentary and are convinced that the information portrayed to accuse Jackson is biased:

HBO should be ashamed to air such a one sided and totally biased portrait. Too much of the story don't add up and after some quick research about the families this is laughable... Jackson estate better sue HBO if possible #LeavingNeverland

Corey Feldman, who wants to expose the Hollywood pedo ring admitted that many famous celebs raped him and Corey Haim when they were kid stars. When asked about MJ, he said mj was one adult that he could feel safe with in Hollywood because he never touched kids #LeavingNeverland

This flimsy piece of shit #LeavingNeverland documentary is so flimsy. HBO and everyone involved should be ashamed of themselves. Go get Roman Polanski or Woody Allen. You know, the guys that actually are pedos and still alive

This documetary is unethical. If this documentary was about truth how do they not interview Brett Barnes and Maculey Culkin. How do you include the name of kids that said they were not molested by Michael Jackson? #leavingneverland

March 4, 2019

The only thing that this "documentary" proves to me is that the name Michael Jackson is still interesting enough to generate loads of money.
And that's what is all about for those boys: money.#LeavingNeverland

Dawg I’m watching this #LeavingNeverland documentary and it’s SUUCCHH a money grab. Don’t bother with it. So cringey..

March 4, 2019

from a storytelling standpoint #LeavingNeverland is a very bad documentary. I’m up to listen the stories of survivors of any abuse. I’m on their side always, but this being about the greatest megastar in the world and a dead person, I expected a lot more of facts and research.

The second part to the documentary, After Neverland will air Monday night on HBO and will center around Oprah Winfrey interviewing both Robson and Safechuck. Backlash on the second half of the film is already anticipated.

Wonder what Mrs. Jackson now thinks of their old family friend @Oprah?

March 4, 2019

I am appalled that @oprah someone who I admired and was a fan of would do this gutter tv special #AfterNeverland no evidence?no conviction?? Just destroying a legacy because 2 deadbeats want a check! I’m canceling @OWNTV@HBO@oprahmagazine@ww_us everything you are with Im done!

So happy that Oprah is giving these men a voice too! #AfterNeverland#IBelieveThem

March 2, 2019

@Oprah probably the biggest follow I give this year! Thank you Oprah for sticking up for the children 🙏❤️#afterneverland
