There Are Now 8,580 COVID-19 Cases In Quebec & Legault Says April Will Be A Critical Month
On Monday, April 6, during the Government of Quebec's daily public briefing about the coronavirus situation, Premier François Legault announced that there have now been 121 deaths, which makes 27 newly confirmed deaths in the last 24 hours. Legault made sure to offer his condolences to the families and friends of the victims of the virus. There are now 8,580 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Quebec.
The previous day, there were 7,944 cases — meaning an augmentation of 636 during the last day.
Legault said that he hopes April will be the last month that we need to face this pandemic, but we must continue to follow all health guidelines. In noting this, he mentioned that April will be a critical month.
On April 5, the Premier announced that all non-essential businesses must now remain closed until May 4, instead of April 13, which was the date originally given. The Government of Quebec also launched a new initiative that day, called "Le Panier Bleu," which aims to help local businesses.
For his daily thanks, Legault chose to thank all Quebecers for following the health guidelines provided by the government.

In his Facebook post on April 6, François Legault reminded everyone that "the next few days are going to be critical in our battle against the virus. It's not the time to give up."
"We have to stay at home."
During the press conference on April 6, Legault made an important announcement to all pregnant women in the province and their partners.
Currently, Montreal's Jewish General Hospital is not permitting partners or doulas to accompany pregnant women into its maternity ward. This is due to the high number of COVID-19 patients in this specific hospital.
Legault noted that "we are currently looking into the possibility for women who want to change hospitals to be able to do so."
And he made it clear that "there is no intention on the part of the government to extend these prohibitions to other hospitals."
As for the situation in Montreal, there are now over 14 Montreal areas with over 100 cases.
In total, the region of Montreal now has 3,977 confirmed COVID-19 cases.
