The year is coming to a close, meaning all of the lists of 2018 statistics are being revealed, either for us to admire or cringe at. It's interesting to see what we were thinking or did over the last 12 months that shaped not only Canada, but the entire world. Of all the lists being revealed right now, one is defintiely anticipated more than the rest.

TL;DR Google has released its official top trending searches list for Canada in 2018. Below is the top 10 list of most trending searches in the country as well as the list for international news and the "how" and "why" questions we've asked Google over the last 12 months.

Yes, the official top 10 Google searches in Canada of 2018 has just be released. You probably can't even estimate how many things you've Googled this year, but you can now feel relieved to know that most people in the country were searching the exact same things as you.

A Google Trends expert explained that this year's list includes quite a few sporting references, which when you think about it makes a lot of sense. Sports were a heated topic and in the news a lot throughout the year.

Another topic that took over Canadian Google searches this year was tragic events. For example, the third most searched event in the country was the major crash involving the Humboldt Broncos. 

So, without further delay, here is the top 10 list of Canadian Google searches in 2018:

2. Winter Olympic Games
3. Humboldt Broncos
4. Anthony Bourdain
5. Kate Spade
6. Mac Miller
7. Winnipeg Jets
8. Black Panther
9. Avicii
10. Demi Lovato

In fact, No. 1 on this list, the FIFA World Cup, and Winter Olympic Games at No. 2 also made the list that looks at the top 10 Google searches in international news.
