Sex is the one action that has remained constant throughout human history. No matter what era, people got busy. We're living proof of that. Sex ain't going nowhere (not that we want it to) but trends in sexual activity have changed over times, even as recently as the last decade. Check out some of these sex statistics, which may surprise even the most frisky.
Adam Was Into Bestiality?
The Bible is rife with interpretation, but this rabbinical analysis of Gen 2: 23, which reads: "And man said, "This time, it is bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh. This one shall be called woman because this one was taken from man." Talmudic analysis [Talmud Yev. 63a] claims that the 'this time' refers to sexual acts, and that Adam had gotten with all of the animals but was still not satisfied, thus Eve was created to fulfill Adam's sexual needs. Who knew the Bible got so kinky?
Lips Linked To Orgasms
A 2011 study in the Journal of Sexual Medicine found a definite link between a woman's lip curvature and her ability to experience an orgasm. Their findings showed that women with large upper-lip tubercles (spot at the middle of the upper lip) have a higher chance of experiencing orgasms. The strange link could be a result of how neural circuits are formed in the womb, as whatever shapes a baby's tubercles could influence the neural connections needed for orgasms as one grows into adulthood, at least according to one grad student. Fellas, next time look at a ladies lips if you want to feel good about your performance.
Old People Are Into Sexting
Think only us young folk are into sending nudes over the phone or online? Apparently not. A study done on the social media habits of 50-74 year olds found that 24% have sent sexual images or content by phone or email before. Take this as a warning: don't go snooping through your parents (or God forbid, grandparents) messages and photos. You may not like what you find.
Teens are Getting Less Promiscuous
Remember adolescence, when you were raging with so many hormones that even looking at plastic wrap got you thinking about sex? Maybe that was just me, but regardless, teens are very sex-crazed creatures, and you'd think that as time has passed, given how sex and sexuality have become less of a taboo topic, that teenagers would be having more sex earlier on. The Canadian Community Health Survey found the opposite. In 1996 70% of 18-19 year olds and 32% of 15-17 year olds reported being sexually active, and that number dropped by 20120 by 2% in both age groups. I blame the Jonas Brothers and those pesky purity rings.
Animals Have Oral Sex Too
Apparently humans aren't the only species who like to go down on each other. 9 animals have been documented performing oral sex, including: bats, walruses, Bonobos, goats, kangaroos, Cape Ground Squirrels, Hyaenas, Sheep, and Gray Wolves. Note that goats and kangaroos generally only blow themselves, and walruses are sex gods for being able to give a BJ with those giant teeth.
