Festivals In July: 

1. Fantasia International Film Festival

Fantasia International Film Festival is going on from July 13th to August 6th this year. Fantasia is a genre film festival focusing on films originating in Asia, Europe and the America's. If you're a genre film lover than you've got to check out there website for more information and updates on their schedule. 


2. International Jazz Festival

If you've never experienced the craziness of Montreal's Jazz Fest yet, you've got to check it out. It's going on this year starting June 28th until July 8th! They have free concerts in the Quartiers des Spectacles, which will be outlined in the free things page, and paid shows as well!

3. Montreal Comic-Con

Montreal's Comic-Con, yes is considered a festival here, and will be happening July 7-9th! This event is everything comic related featuring comic books, toys, games, anime, collectibles and of course cos-play. Come dressed as your favourite comic book character and enjoy the fun!

4. Les Week-ends du Monde

This fun event takes place every year in Montreal's Parc Jean Drapeau and this year it'll be happening on July 8-9 and 15-16. It's a totally free event and focuses on the love of different cultures around the world that are represented here in Montreal. Come celebrate your culture through dance, cuisines and music!

5. Haiti en Folie

This festival takes place in both Montreal and New York City but it'll be taking place in Montreal La Fontaine Park on July 24-30th. This huge event is completely dedicated to celebrating the Haitian culture through theatre, crafts, and outdoor shows.

6. Montreal International Fireworks Competition

This completely free event will definitely light up your passion this summer. It's going on from July 1st to August 5th this year. You don't have to pay a dime to watch these amazing light shows, head down to Lachine Canal or find another spot to watch. If you're looking for the perfect view though, you can pay to get into La Ronde and watch the fireworks up close and personal! 


7. Just For Laughs Festival

1. Canada Day Parade

Obviously this event is happening on July 1st and it'll run along Saint Catherine from Rue du Fort to Rue Peel. Come down dressed up in your Canada colours and celebrate the 150th birthday of this great country, for free of course! 


2. Discotheque Jazz Festival

On July 1st Montreal's Jazz Festival is hosting a free concert on the main stage called Discotheque! It'll headline with Carly Rae Jepson with dancers and crazy projections. 3. Gay Village Open Air Art Gallery

Montreal's Gay Village is hosting an open-air art gallery from June 28th to July 2nd and you shouldn't miss out! Walk under the rainbow balls hanging above and enjoy some the art tents lining the streets! 


4. McCord Museum Freebie Days

Montreal's McCord Museum is open to the public for free after 5 pm on July 5th, 12th and 19th! The first 3 Wednesday of the month. Enjoy the art exhibits without having to pay anything at all.


5. Shakespeare In The Park

Montreal's Repurcussion Theatre is hosting their annual Shakespeare In The Park events taking place from July 13th to August 15th. They tour the city's best parks and this year they're performing Shakespeare's 'Much Ado About Nothing'. Find them at a park near you here

Located close to Papineau metro station, you'll love drinking here at night. They have live DJs and performances, a small beach, hammocks, basketball and soccer courts, and of course a stocked bar!

It's every weekend of the summer from May 21st to September 24th but July is definitely the perfect time to go. It's not too hot and not too cold, it's the perfect summer temperature.
