- Winter seems to be the most romantic of seasons and Montreal is the perfect place to embrace the love lingering in the air.
- Find out where the best winter dates happen in the city below!
Montreal is without a doubt one of the most romantic cities in North America. The combination of colonial charm and contemporary luxury is one of the things that make our city stand out. Though each of the city's season has its appeal, during the winter, as the snow begins to fall, our city starts to look as though it should be the backdrop for every Netflix Christmas movie.
Montreal is undeniably a lovable city, which is why tourists love coming to visit time and time again. From the beauty of Beaver Lake to the elegance and vivacity of Old Montreal, our city has an abundance of romantic locations that will give you the impression of being in your very own holiday film.
Our city is stunning when it's not covered in orange cones. These 9 spots are ideal for anyone looking to do something extraordinary with that special someone in their life. From fairy tale dates to breathtaking proposals, these locations have seen it all.
This winter, why not be the star of your very own Netflix Christmas special and take part in the white wonderland that Montreal becomes while maybe falling in love?
Visit Le Village De Noël At The Atwater Market
The Atwater Christmas market is opening on November 29, 2019, and it is without a doubt one of the most movie-like places to explore around our city.
This location is sure to make you feel like you have entered the North Pole and bring your Christmas cheer to new heights.
The market is made up of 50 huts where local crafters, artisans, and restaurateurs display their work for the public.
To top it all off, there is even a bonfire where you can roast marshmallows — talk about a cute date idea! Why not have a Christmas Star moment this holiday season?
Go Skating On Beaver Lake
There is something incredibly romantic about gliding on the ice, surrounded by picturesque views. In the winter, Beaver Lake turns into a giant outdoor skating rink where you can skate around with your favourite person.
This is a place where you can show off your moves (if you have them) and hold your loved one close as you skate across all the frozen glory that becomes of our beloved Beaver Lake during the cold months.
One of my go-to holiday movies is Just Friends and somehow, skating out my Christmas energy always reminds me of this hilarious film!
Snowshoe To The Top Of Mount Royal
A moonlit trek to the top of Mount Royal will give you the illusion of being part of a cheesy Christmas movie like The Holiday Calander.
Guides lead participants through the snowy woods, as they pass the cross and head to the summit of the park. It's all very romantic.
This snowy hike is not only a unique way to get some exercise, but it is without a doubt one of the most story-like activities you can do throughout the cold of winter.
Spend Time At Noël Dans Le Parc
This holiday season, three Montreal parks will once again transform into festive Christmas markets. Adults can grab a drink from the bar and sing and dance along with live band performances. Lights, trees, and a pop-up village make Noël dans le parc feel like the set of a lovable Christmas B-movie.
Take A Walk Through Parc La Fontaine
Parc La Fontaine is located in the Plateau and, to me, screams romance. This is another destination to go skating during the winter, which is always the perfect date idea.
Parc La Fontaine has a certain magnetism about it, especially during the winter, which makes you feel like you are in an incredible Christmas movie, like Love Actually.
As the snow begins to cover Montreal, pretty walks through the park past softly-glowing street lamps will remind us not to hate the season entirely.
Stroll Through Old Montreal
When it comes to picturesque winter locations in the city, Old Montreal is at the top of everyone’s list. There is something very special about winters in the Old Port. The antique charm combined with the abundance of stunning buildings in the area make this location everyone's favourite place to be when the weather gets cold.
If you want to get the full feel of being in a Christmas movie, take a night walk in the Old Port when it is snowing. It'll feel exactly like you're living out a scene from The Christmas Prince.
Experience Cité Memoire
Cité Memoire is a neighbourhood-wide art piece that is projected on Old Montreal façades. This production brings our city's past to life.
Images come alive in a gorgeous, romantic and theatrical display.
As you walk through the dark alleyways, buildings will magically transform in front of you, making you feel like you have entered a world of make-believe that will definitely get you into the holiday spirit.
Hang Out In The Town Of Mount Royal
The Town of Mount Royal, aka T.M.R., can best be described as a storybook town. This affluent enclave has a suburban charm that not many neighbourhoods posses.
From the Christmas lights placed along the main streets to the red phone booth in the center of town, T.M.R. truly gives visitors the illusion that they have entered a classic Christmas movie, like the town where Home Alone is set in, with the old trees and beautiful homes.
