- The Village au Pied-du-Courant will host a party dedicated to Mexican food and culture this weekend.
- The party is free to attend!
Mexico is coming to Montreal this weekend. Who needs to save up for a flight and deal for the hassle of travel when you can lounge on a beach and enjoy a Mexican themed day of food, music, and dancing.
This Sunday, August 11, head over to the open-air Village au Pied-du-Courant and take in all the Land of Enchantment has to offer without actually being there at a free Mexican food and culture celebration.
The fiesta will have musical performances by Mexican singer Ariana Vilaboa, and hardcore funk artists Mighty Funk Freakaz, along with a host of DJs to dance the day away with. Don't expect a quiet moment — this is a day of celebration, Latin style.
Oh, and the food. So much amazing food! There will be a few vendors serving up traditional Mexican cuisine, and you really can't miss any of them. You will need a taco from Karisma, a torta from Ta Chido Snack-bar, the tostadas de ceviche y pollo, and the ILISH Popsicles.
There will also be a piñata (we're guessing more how to build rather than hit) and a Frida Kahlo workshop by artist Cara Carmina that you can take part in, too. And it's free admission for everyone, even your dog, which you're allowed to bring.
There will be an open market with some of the local Montreal-based Mexican-inspired artisans. Boutique Apapacho will be there; they have some of our favorite coffee mugs ever (these are the ones in case you're curious).
Pied-du-Courant is rebuilt every year and only open during the summer. The space includes a traditional boardwalk, a beach, a beer garden and a space for food trucks. It's the perfect host for smaller Montreal festivals and entertainment like the Sunday artisan markets.
The space is easy to get to by metro. The closest station is Papineau and it's a quick 9-minute walk from there. And the party is on from 3 PM until 11 PM so you have lots of time to get there!
Chilling at Pied-du-Courant is an amazing way to spend any weekend, but with the mix of a Latino vibe, it makes for the perfect Sunday.
