Okay, we might only be two weeks into September, so maybe I'm being hyperbolic, but I'm starting to feel like theare coming close to out-ranking the summer activities in Montreal... and that's saying something.
There has been so much to talk about lately, with amazing event after amazing event going down in the Montreal area.
We've got honestly, , , , and .
And now we get to add this all-new Chinese Lantern festival that is starting this weekend on Parc Jean-Drapeau island in Espace '67, which promises to be a lot more than your mom's lanterns hanging in a tree.
Feux follets is a full sensory experience that will bring visitors through a "lively and interactive journey," exhibiting lanterns that are better described as "bright and colourful structures," considering some reach heights of 15 metres or more.
But, wait, there's more! The lanterns won't be the only spectacle, there will also be 3D holographic animations that will engulf the park and its visitors.
It's sure to be a breathtaking event, and it's running for the next month and a half. Take a look at what you can expect below, and follow the link to get tickets today.
The expansive experience opens to the public tomorrow and runs until the end of October. This year's theme showcases China, literally in a new light, with huge lantern structures alongside immersive mixed media exhibitions.
Take Maya Kodes, for example. She's a 3D holographic virtual singer that you will likely meet during your visit to Feux follets, who comes to life with unique pop songs at the 8 p.m. show.
Another aspect of the show is an exciting "dance of the drones," when dozens of drones will take flight and move in unison with dancers, lights and sound, another 8 p.m. show not to be missed.
And, of course, the main fixtures of the experience are the towering lantern structures that will depict China alongside "grandiose and luminous scenery," the likes of which have never been seen before in Montreal.
Other local shows will also take place throughout the evenings, including, "contortionists, acrobats, face-transforming artists, fire-eaters, parades of traditional Chinese costumes," real musicians and singers... and, as mentioned above, maybe a couple "unreal" ones, as well.
