Concordia University Is Hosting A Huge $3 Used Book Fair Next Week
Everything from Can Lit to witchcraft!
- Concordia University's epic used book sale is back again for another go next week.
- Spend as little as $3 a book on everything from Can Lit to witchcraft, textbooks to fiction.
- Details below!
Next month an epic used book sale at Concordia University will provide you will all your secondhand book needs, for as low as $3 a book.
One of the absolute best things I learned in my second year of university is that buying brand-new books at bookstore prices was a complete rip-off.
Now, I should add that I was an English Lit student and therefore most of my "textbooks" were classic pieces of canon that could be found at most libraries or secondhand bookstores, if not straight-up for free on the Internet.
I know that science students often don't have this luxury, largely because textbook editions change from year to year and with a subject that is constantly evolving in that manner, you're going to want the newest edition.
But for many other subjects, if you're working with a 2017 edition of a text, you're likely not missing much in terms of updates.
And then, of course, there are all those books in the world that are never updated but are still used as teaching materials in classes from anthropology to political science, along with countless others. These are the kinds of books you'd be wise to try and find second hand... not just to save yourself some serious cash, but also 'cause you just never know what nuggets of knowledge someone may have left behind in the margins.
Which brings me to Concordia's upcoming EPIC used book sale that is happening next month and will be serving up books for as cheap as $3 in pretty much every field imaginable.
The sale will take place over three days. The first day, called the "pre-sale," will give you first dibs on all the best finds the book sale has to offer.
The pre-sale is on Sunday, November 3, which is the only day when there is a $5 admission fee, with 100% of the proceeds going to student scholarships and the Student Emergency and Food Fund.
The following two days are free to attend and are open to the public, so don't worry about having your student card or anything.
Also, be sure to have cash and your own bag to bring home your secondhand goods!
And if you're looking to donate some used books, keep an eye out for the pink donation bins around campus. Find out exact locations and what they accept here.
