- Montreal amusement park La Ronde is hosting a competition in which several lucky (?) contestants will get a chance to spend 30 hours trapped in a "slightly used" coffin.
- The person who is able to endure this challenge will win $600.
- The event is part of the larger Fright Fest Halloween festival that will take over the park.
But if you're someone who enjoys terror that is best served up with your own imagination, then the 30-Hour Coffin Challenge may be for you.
Is it getting hot in here?
On the evening of October 12 until October 13, six participants will be chosen to spend 30 hours confined in a closed coffin where they will have to lay completely flat and perfectly still in a box measuring just 28 inches across and 7 feet long.
Why do my clothes feel so tight?
All meals will be taken in the coffin and participants are only allowed one, ten-minute bathroom break every two hours. The rest of the time will be spent in complete, claustrophobic darkness.
Seriously, is anyone else finding it hot in here?
Coffin dwellers are allowed to bring a friend, but once the park closes, if you're not in a coffin, you will be asked to leave the park.
So if you've ever wanted to test your claustrophobic endurance, restricted in a wooden casket with no one around (except for the other five terror seekers), not able to move and in a makeshift cemetery, then sign your life away here.
Why is it suddenly getting hard to breathe?
The grand prize winner will receive $600, two 2020 Gold Season Passes, two basic dining passes and two haunted house passes.
To take part in the challenge you must be at least 18 years old, a Quebec resident, and have no medical conditions that would make lying in a cramped coffin for 30 hours a risk to your health. You will be asked to sign a waiver at check-in.
If you leave your coffin for any reason other than the designated bathroom breaks or challenges, you will be eliminated.
The Fright Fest freaks will also be making random, unscheduled visits during the challenge to keep your heart beating at unhealthy levels.
Oh and don't worry, the coffins according to the website are only "slightly used." At least that's one less thing to think about while lying restricted and motionless in a rectangular casket.
