An ex-boyfriend once told me I had “Peter Pan Syndrome,” meaning that I never wanted to grow up. He meant it as an insult; I took it as the highest form of compliment.

For me, being able to stay in touch with my child-self is how I stay positive and laugh through this complicated journey we call life.

This fall, Montreal is getting an immersive pop-up, playground experience that is inspired by childhood nostalgia and it looks like someone dove into the mind of my kid self and I could not be more excited to go.

HideSeek Montreal is a playground designed to awaken childlike wonder through an escape from mundane, day-to-day activity.

According to co-founder Lee Davis, this experience aims to stimulate nostalgia through all five senses. “As we age, we naturally take on more responsibility and stressors. But who’s to say we can’t relive the sense of freedom and curiosity we felt throughout childhood," he says.

"We’ve created a space encouraging society to press pause in their day and experience sensations we not only felt but celebrated as children.”

HideSeek Montreal will open on Saturday, October 12, 2019 on rue Saint-Denis and will be running for a total of two months. This adult recess will give you a wistful and delightful walk down memory lane.

The transformative space is decked out in multi-sensory adventures suitable for all ages. The experience through brightly-coloured spaces and whimsical scenes will last about 45 quirky minutes.

There will be a little over twelve multi-dimensional rooms, each of which will include captivating installations that guests can explore on their own.

Some rooms will be bursting with bubbles while others will have ceiling-to-floor slinkies, which sounds like everything my six-year-old self ever wanted.

There will even be a room with huge pillow forts where you can gaze into a glow-in-the-dark galaxy that is filled with over 10,000 stars — how romantic!

This is a world of bliss and wonder that is sure to impress and excite you — not to mention that every corner you will turn will be photo-worthy, so make sure you dress to impress!

Lee Davis explains that the reason why he decided to come to Montreal after finding so much success in Toronto was that he sees Montreal as "innovative and creative city, with authentic experiences and incredible art installations. We love its originality and we can’t wait to bring this never-before-seen concept to such a vibrant city.”

This is something that has never been done in Montreal and I am sure I am not the only one who is going to be counting down the days until HideSeek opens its doors.
