- The popular Village de Noël de Montréal, the Atwater Christmas Market, is already coming to an end this season.
- This is the last weekend to experience the popular village before it closes up!
If you're anything like me, the title of this article made you go, "WTF?! Already?!" Yes, sad but true, Montreal's Atwater Christmas market will only be open for a couple more days before the very last day on Sunday, December 22, 2019. Scrooge all you want, but it is a Christmas market, after all, so the whole magical little village won't around after Christmas, and, understandably, it won't open next week as Christmas Day draws near.
The market opened on November 29, 2019, so don't act like you didn't have nearly and entire month to go. And we both know if it had opened before November 29, there would have been more than a couple people complaining about how early Christmas cheer is allowed to spread pre-December.
But all hope is not lost yet!
You can still catch some market munchies and perhaps cash in on some end of season savings for any of those last-minute gifts you need to grab.
The market will be open this weekend for the final hoorah on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
By then, hopefully, you'll have shopped your heart out and are ready to just chill out by the fire with your fam on Christmas Day, as the whole crew from Village de Noël de Montréal completely deserves, as well.
There's no question that the village brought us all we could have ever dreamt when it comes to a cozy Christmas market. From bonfires to live music and endless local goodies, it was truly magical.
Plus, if you're someone who hasn't yet snatched up their Christmas tree, this is definitely the weekend to do it — and you can do that there, too!
New this year is the Elf Kingdom, an immersive adventure for kids of all ages and even those just kids at heart who can explore the world of Santa's magical helpers.
Experiences like this, that let you step away from simply shopping and consuming to also experience and explore are becoming increasingly popular in Montreal... and I'm all here for it.
From spots like HideSeek to Imagine Van Gogh, it's clear Montreal is excited to make more shared public experiences that go hand in hand with classical cultural experiences, like the ballet or other kinds of performative art.
