- ekart Montreal is setting up real-life Mario Kart tournaments every Saturday in Laval this month.
- Players can choose from a variety of Mario-Kart themed onesies, from Mario himself to Yoshi or Toad.
We've all participated in intense Mario Kart tournaments: the kind that create such intense sibling rivalry that you've been tempted to throw your Wii controller into the TV.
And, while playing those games, didn't we all wish that we could actually be IN the game? In Montreal, some entrepreneurs have actually made that happen.
Enter ekart Montreal, a company that allows players to compete against each other "battle-style." That's the version where you play in teams and shoot each other's ballons.
The company is hosting these battle-style tournaments every Saturday at the Place Bell in Laval, and tickets are only $20. That's not a lot of money to pay to make dreams come true.
They really want to make the experience as authentic as possible: included in your ticket is a costume. Players can choose from a variety of Mario-Kart themed onesies, from Mario himself to Yoshi or Toad.
You get into teams, and try to pop your opponents' balloons while trying to "avoid bananas thrown by opponents, throw shells and avoid obstacles."
When the company first began offering this service in late April, it was only available to large groups who made reservations in advance.
Now, thanks to the popularity of the service, Montrealers can buy tickets to play at the Place Bell every Saturday in August. You can head there to play at various times between 2:00 p.m. and 5:50 p.m.
I, for one, absolutely want to race on go-karts that can go up to 70 km/h and throw things at my friends, all while wearing ridiculous costumes.
