The 1950's were a glorious time in Montreal. Language laws weren't a thing, the Champlain Bridge wasn't a total clusterfuck, and the city was gearing towards Expo '67 and a bright future. We know today that things didn't work out so perfectly. If anything, Montreal just should have kept everything the same, 'cuz the city looked mighty fine in 1957.
