This Free Shuttle Bus Will Take You From Downtown Montreal Right To The City's Largest Nature Park This Winter

Unless you have a car, it's pretty hard to get yourself into some real "plein air" while living in Montreal. While the city has some great parks, if you want to really get lost in nature and partake in winter sports other than tobogganing, you need to rent a car or take a bus.

Except, however, if you take La Navette Nature that will travel to Cap-Saint-Jacques Nature Park seven times this winter — and you can get on for free.

TL;DR You can take the Nature Navette for FREE from downtown Montreal to Parc-Saint-Jacques seven times this winter. Check out the dates and activities below.

Cap-Saint-Jacques Nature Park is less than an hour from Montreal, right across from Oka Beach on Lac Deux-Montagnes. Because it is within the city boundaries, it is actually considered Montreal's largest park.

From its numerous trails you can also see the Rivière des Prairies. The park spans a total of 330 hectares — that's over 800 acres.

At the park you can cross-country ski through fields, forests, and alongside the river.

There's also a varirety of animals that live on the ecological farm, so you can have a little visit with some cows, goats, sheep, donkeys, rabbits, pigs, and a pony!

They've also got the classic cabane à sucre for you to feed your sweet tooth and try some maple products.

Opening this year is a trail for "fatbikes," so you can cruise around the park on wheels if you don't feel like a little ski du fond.

Other winter activities include carriage rides, birdwatching, snowshoeing, sledding, and tours of the farm.

The Nature Navette (or NANA, for short) is offering seven days of free trips up to Cap-Saint-Jacques this winter. The dates are:

  • Sunday 13 January
  • Sunday 4 February
  • Saturday 16 February
  • Sunday 3 March
  • Friday 8 March
  • Saturday 9 March

The shuttle leaves Square Dorchester at 9 A.M. and 9:30 A.M. Return times are 3:45 P.M and 4:15 P.M.

You must make a reservation to take the Nature Navette. To do so, you can check out their website here, call 1-866-857-6262 or send an e-mail to
