This Is How Downtown Montreal Will Look In 2016

The city of Montreal will be undergoing some intensive construction plans in the upcoming year. The downtown sector will be heavily affected.

The main part of the plan involves covering the Ville-Marie Highway with a rooftop and a new public place near the Old Port. Several route modifications will be happening in order to create more space to accommodate the new public place.

Solutions are being worked on to create a passage through the construction sites for pedestrians in the meantime. Projet Montreal opposes any plans that do not include secure pedestrian access.

The project is expected to be done by 2018.
