This Is How Hurricane Irma Will Impact Canada

Hurricane Irma may be relatively far away from Canada but that doesn't mean we won't feel it's effect.

According to the latest news, Irma isn't expected to reach Canada but it will come very close. Lucky for us it's going to weaken as it reaches the southern parts of Ontario and Quebec. So we might see some freaky weather, but nothing close to a hurricane.

However one of the weather predictionssays that Hurricane Irma will bring a significant amount of rainfall into southern Ontario and southern Quebec.

This morning the federal government issued a lot of travel advisories for all the areas in the path of the Hurricane including:

  • Guadeloupe

  • Saint Maarten

  • Puerto Rico

  • Saint-Barthemely

  • U.S. Virgin Islands

  • British Virgin Islands

  • Saint Martin

  •  Saint Kitts and Nevis

  • Montserrat

  • Anguilla

  • Antigua and Barbuda.

  • Turks and Caicos

  • Cuba

  • Florida

  • and Southeast Texas

Air Canada even has to issue a goodwill policy, which allows passengers who are flying to certain Caribbean airports to change their flights free of charge.

So far there's weird weather, flight cancellations and travel advisories, but the most annoying way the hurricane will impact Canada is the price of gas.

Right now the pricesin Montreal are higher than they've been in long time and it might actually get worse before it gets better.
