Meet Emilie Rose, Founder of Treasure Box and #GIRLBOSS behind Le Manoir.
Le Manoir is a "one stop beauty shop" located at 15 rue St Catherine E.
I had the pleasure of meeting Emilie at A New Woman Today conference that was held in Montreal on February 20. Emilie distinguishes herself for not only being a self-made entrepreneur, but for being SO young doing it too. Here's the story of the woman behind the spa that does it all.
Born in Montreal, Emilie spent her early adult years traveling the world as a surfer. "I had a passion for the 'image' - I did a bit of movies, modelled for Roxy, enjoyed myself being wild and free."
From the coast of Costa Rica to the Southern of France, Emilie had the chance to work with different surfers, and lived in California before she decided it was time to get serious and came back home for the hustle. At the age of 20, she went back to school, and obtained a degree in Business Administration. She worked various jobs to save money and at the age of 22 years old, opened her own beauty spa, Le Manoir.

Why did you decide to open a beauty store for women?
I've always had an interest in aesthetic and beauty. I'm a very manual and social person, [therefor] it was the perfect combination. I also love fashion, from the time I spent in L.A, I developed this minimalistic way of living. Getting inspired by L.A/Fashion week, I wanted to include the trendiest styles in my store. That's how Le Manoir was born. it is combination of everything I love; hair, aesthetic, and fashion, all under one roof.
What is the concept behind 'Le Manoir'?
Beauty is something thats fun and doesn't need to become a job. That is the concept behind Le Manoir. I tried to create a place that's fun and that has everything you need. It's a "one stop beauty shop".
We take aesthetic very seriously. [Unlike other spas] we don't do fake nails, and we only use bio-sculpture gel which is the only gel that fortifies the natural nail. Nails is the core of our business. Le Manoir and the girls here are always thinking of the "next level", we are in competition with ourselves and always try to improve to be better and do better.
What advice can you give young women entrepreneur?
Just start. Because as soon as you're going to start, you're going to learn. people wait too long for "something" to push them. There's no manual for being an entrepreneur, you just feel it inside you. You'll learn as you go along.
You [also] need to be passionate about what you do. If you love what you do, you will do it for days without money. Everything is possible. You can create your own magic. If you really want something, go get it.
What are your future plans for Le Manoir?
Treasure Box, our jewelry line has become a huge thing. We are working on the next collection and our retail line "Shop Manoir" which you can get directly on our website.
Though the resort is in Quebec, you can still sip cocktails on sandy beaches, take a dip in multiple pools and tubs, and enjoy delicious food from three on-site restaurants — all while surrounded by three lakes and the gorgeous nature of the Laurentians.
While you're there, you can also explore the Laurentians through outdoor activities like paddleboarding, canoeing, kayaking, pedal boating and biking.
Motorboats are available for rent for an afternoon of cruising on Quebec waters, for groups of eight to 13 people.
The resort's Nordic thermal spa features hot tubs, a polar bath, a dry sauna, a "hammam" sauna and a barrel sauna on the lake. Two heated outdoor pools are available for resort-goers year-round.
Price: Varies — packages start at $159
Address: 39, blvd. Fridolin-Simard, Estérel, QC
Why You Need To Go: Outdoor activities, motorboat rentals, spa treatments and good food make Estérel resort your summer home away from home.
All women enrolled in a full-time university program in computer science, computer engineering and construction, and electrical, electronic and communications engineering will be eligible for a $3,000 scholarship each year for up to four years — by the end of their studies, this would total $12,000.

Montreal has all kinds of different bars, but these changemakers say many of them fall short in making space for LGBTQIA2+ women. For this reason, Avery Burrow, event organizer, and Resto Keela teamed up to create 5 à 7s for LGBTQIA2+ women that take place twice a month.
The events were created for members of the LGBTQ2S+ community to connect. According to Burrow, "queer women can actually have a reoccurring space where they can meet each other, flirt, make friends, and feel safe," at these new 5 à 7s.
Keela has a cute wooden terrasse located on rue Atateken with a beautiful spacious interior. These events are set to take place every first and third Wednesday of the month for the entirety of the summer and all LGBTQIA2+ women are welcome.
"[It was] better than I ever could have imagined! [...] And the wildest part about it was that I knew almost no one there (insert joke about how the queer community is super small and we've all dated)," Burrow said when asked how the first event went.
"Also the age range was awesome — from 18-year-olds attending their first queer event to women in their 70s catching up with old friends. This is how a lesbian space should feel; welcoming to all ages, gender expressions, and ethnicities."
During the events, you can get a pint of beer for $5 and any speed rail drink for $6.
