Escapes to Caribbean destinations can also be costly during the travel season. That's why one enterprise has endeavoured to bring the Caribbean "to the heart of Quebec." The Camping Havana Resort reconstructs the charms of tropical Cuba in the temperature forests of la belle province.
Here, you'll find "all the features of the big tropical complexes" right here in Quebec: "resort-size swimming pool, salsa classes, sand beach with palapas, water games, a mini-farm, Cubano coffee," and much more.
The facilities and cabins are inspired by the colours and styles of beachside Cuba. Bright façades and thatched roofs evoke the famed countryside and rustic urban streetscapes of the popular travel destination. Palm trees complete the look.
In addition to this Cuba architectural flair, the site also offers classic Cuban cuisine at the Café Cubano, where "your taste buds will be satiated with original flavors." Shops, a cantine, an épicerie, and a gym are also among the amenities.
It costs between $179 and $279 to rent a cottage for the night while camping on site costs between $55 and $400 depending on the day of the week. You can review all rates and make your reservation here.
The Camping Havana Resort is located in Maricourt in the Eastern Townships of Quebec, just over one hour from Montreal and 35 minutes from Sherbrooke and Drummondville, according to the website.
You don't need to rent an accommodation to visit the site, however. Adults can spend the day at the Havan resort for just $20!Dogs are also welcome to join in on the fun, the website proudly proclaims.
Montreal's iconic Greenspot restaurant is selling hot dogs for $0.74 this weekend, September 18 and 19, to celebrate its 74th anniversary.
On Facebook, the Saint-Henri institution says it's converting its small parking lot on avenue Greene into a picnic area for the event.
And the wiener fun doesn't stop there. Greenspot is having a contest on its Instagram page where followers have the chance to win 74 hot dogs — a prize they can redeem at their discretion.
The restaurant invites followers to share the Instagram post and tag three friends to enter the contest.
Daily two-for-one deals have also been part of the 74th-anniversary celebrations.
Dating back to 1947, Greenspot serves American and Quebec diner classics (including a long list of hearty poutines) amid retro decor (including individual table jukeboxes — they don't work but they're super charming!).
