Fall is a time for pumpkins, cideries, apple picking, picnics, and, of course, the PSL. But why be like everybody else when you can do something that's a bit more unique than your typical fall festivity?
TL;DR The Festival De La Galette De Sarrasin De Louiseville is happening just outside of Montreal this fall that you don't want to miss.
With so much variety and so many cool spots in Quebec, there is definitely lots to do and explore! Every year there's a spectacular and historic fall festival hosted in Louiseville Quebec, about an hour-and-40-minute drive from Montreal.
The Festival De La Galette De Sarrasin De Louiseville, has been around for 40 years and is filled with 10 days of activities and fun! This festival was created to celebrate the Buckwheat for which the region is famous.
It all started by providing farmers and other Louiseville residents dinners that included buckwheat pancakes, along with bacon, greaves, and potatoes. These dinners were so valued by the community that they turned into an annual festival!
The woman that sells the most macarons is even named the "Queen-Miller."
The festival is taking place from September 28th to October 7th.
There is so much to see and do at this event!
- Go on a guided tour of the mill of sarrasin and the Richard Gardens (September 29th - 30th and October 6th at 2:00pm)
- Shows from Iconik, King 16, and Lipstick Rodeo
