They all appeared in court today.
Three Of The Five Montreal Teens Accused Of Gang Rape Have Been Released From Custody

Yesterday we spoke about the current case of a gang rape, the five teens accused of committing the crime, and of the 13-year-old victim.

The alleged "gang rape" happened at the end of March and was reported 6 days after by her father, whom only found out about it from the victim's older brother.

The older brother had seen footage of the gang rape on social media platforms WhatsApp and Snapchat.

Five teens were arrested, all between the ages of 13-16. Four of them were male, and one 13-year-old girl who had filmed the incident and shared it online.

As of about an hour ago, the three who appeared in Montreal Youth Court today have been released from police custody, into the care of their parents. This is all coming from a CJAD radio host less than an hour ago.

The three teenagers who appeared in court have all been released to await proper trial on charges of gang sexual assault; armed sexual assault; unlawful confinement; and production, possession, and distribution of child pornography.

Their conditions of release include 24/7 house arrest, unless with their parents or at school.

The defence lawyer for one of the accused has said that the 13-year-old victim shares the same school as some of the teens facing charges. The accused are mandated to return to school as part of their release.

There are strict orders of no-contact between the students, they must be supervised in class and while moving between classes. One of the teens has been permitted to attend their soccer practice, as well.

Defence lawyer for one accused says some of the teens charged attend the same school as the alleged victim. They are mandated to return to school as part of their release, but have orders of no-contact and must be supervised in class and in transit.

Details of this court appearance are just beginning to come out now, and I will continue to update this as more information becomes available.

Once again, I want to send out all the support and positive energy I can to the (alleged) victim and her family at this time.
