Top 10 Most Dangerous Montreal Metro Stations

Crime is down 20% in Montreal's metro system, but far from gone entirely.

Certain stations are more prone to criminal activity when compared to others and thanks to handy map from JdM, we've ranked Montreal's most dangerous metro stations based on total amount of criminal infractions in 2013.

Here are Montreal most crime-prone metro stations:

1. Berri-UQAM, 417 criminal infractions in 2013

2. Lionel-Groulx. 93 criminal infractions in 2013

3. Places-des-Arts, 90 criminal infractions in 2013

4. McGill, 83 criminal infractions in 2013

5. Atwater, 65 criminal infractions in 2013

6. Guy-Concordia, 51 criminal infractions in 2013

7. Bonaventure, 45 criminal infractions in 2013

8. Pie-IX, 38 criminal infractions in 2013

9. Côte-Vertu, 36 criminal infractions in 2013

10. Mont-Royal, 35 criminal infractions in 2013

To put some things in perspective, 40% of incidents occurred on the Green line, with 25% on the Orange line. Within all metro stations, 27% of crimes happened in Berri-UQAM and Lionel- Groulx stations.

According to CJAD, the most common crimes were electronics theft, intimidation and graffiti.

You also can't discount the amount of unreported crimes that occur in all of Montreal's metro stations, which would likely increase all crime rates across the board.
