Top Rated Netflix Canada Originals You Need To Watch In August 2018

Netflix really outdid themselves this August.  I have the numbers to prove it! This month Netflix Canada is releasing 47 originals.  Some brand spanking new, and some highly anticipated returning seasons.

I understand that sifting through 47 series and movies is a lot to handle, so I did the legwork and narrowed down the list to the 12 most hype Originals that everyone is talking about.

Some highlights: Creator of The Simpsons Matt Groening's new animated series Disenchantment, also the controversial dark teen comedy Insatiable, and lastly a chilling docu-series following death row inmates I am Killer, are all anticipated to provide you with countless hours of binging pleasure.  Please binge responsibly.

1. I am killer

Release day: August 3rd

This chilling docu-series follows and interviews death row inmates who tell their own personal stories of how they ended up in prison.

2. Insatiable

Release day: August 10th

This highly anticipated series has no RT score - yet because its first season has not yet been released. The release date is set to be August 10th. People everywhere will be tuning in to watch this controversial American "coming of rage" story.

3. Disenchantment: Season 1

Release day: August 17th

Another highly anticipated animated series created by none other than Matt Groening, the mastermind behind The Simpsons. This series follows the misadventures of a hard-drinking princess, her feisty elf, and her personal demon.

4. To All The Boys I've Loved Before

5. The Innocents

This Netflix original series is for the sci-phi fans out there. When two teenagers Harry and June run away from home and away from their abusive families to be together, they are caught by surprise by paranormal discovery, June's ability to shape shift.

6. The Ozarks: Season 2

Release day: August 31st

This thrilling and suspenseful American drama series tries to answer the question "does the end justifies the means." Jason Bateman stars as Martin Byrde a family man and financial advisor who is required to uproot his family overnight after some shady dealings with a Mexican drug cartel go awry.

7. Like Father

Release day: August 3rd

Starring Kristen Bell, this Netflix Original Movie is about a workaholic woman who gets left at the altar and decides to take her honeymoon trip alone and is joined by her overachieving father.

8. Cocaine Coast

Release day: August 3rd

This Netflix Original Series takes place in Spain in the 1980s; a young fisherman becomes a prosperous cocaine smuggler by providing Latin American suppliers with a European entry point.

9. Afflicted

Release day: August 10th

This one is for you serious horror movie-lovers out there. Following two best friends who set out on a trip of a lifetime, things turn south quickly when they meet a woman in Paris leaving one of them mysteriously afflicted.

10. Zion

Release day: August 10th

This touching documentary short is about a young man who was born without legs and grew up in foster care, and his journey to becoming a wrestler.

11. The Comedy Lineup: Part 2

Release day: August 31st

This Netflix Original features up-and-coming comics performing short but hilarious 15 minutes sets in the comedy showcase series.

12. The Laws of Thermodynamics

Release day: August 31st

In this documentary-like meets comedy, Netflix movie a neurotic scientists meet a famous and begin a relationship with a top model and try to use logic and the Laws of the Thermodynamics to rule their relation.
