Despite the cold blast that most of Canada just experienced, summer is definitely on its way. With temperatures expected to warm up drastically in the following weeks, you may begin to feel the urge to venture outside for an escape from the city.
The only problem is that most of us city dwellers don't have a vehicle to take us way out of the urban sprawl. You could carpool with friends or rent a car, but both options are pretty inconvenient or expensive.
Luckily, there is an alternative that is super easy and stress-free, not to mention there is no cost for travel.
TL;DR The free shuttle bus service to National and Provincial parks in Canada, called Parkbus, just released their summer 2019 schedule for both Toronto and Vancouver. Seats are limited, so book fast. The service is known for connecting city dwellers with the outdoors for no cost.
Parkbus, a public transportation service that connects city people with National and Provincial parks, is about to begin their shuttle bus services again for the summer 2019 season.
Yes, this means you can take a shuttle bus to a nearby park for a day of hiking, exploring, canoeing, kayaking and more!
Parkbus currently operates 26 routes across three Canadian provinces. If you happen to live in either Toronto, Edmonton, Montreal or Vancouver you're in luck, as the bus service runs every weekend during the warmer months and can connect you with a number of Provincial or National parks outside of your city.
The best part? The shuttle bus service is totally free. All you'll need to do is reserve a seat on the bus in advance, meet at the pre-determined bus stop in your city ahead of departure and make sure you make it back to the park entrance in the afternoon for your ride back to the city.
Parkbus just released their official summer schedule for routes in Vancouver and Toronto, so now is the time to make your reservation. Montreal and Edmonton routes are expected to be released in the near future, and we will definitely update you when those dates are released.
Note that some parks do request an admission fee, so you'll want to check out the regulations of the specific park you're visiting beforehand.
Needless to say, this is the perfect opportunity to make this summer the best possible, and all at no cost at all! Who says you need a car to go camping?
