TL;DR Blue Mistsubishi Lancer caught fire early Thursday morning on the Champlain Bridge headed towards the South Shore. No one was injured. Lanes are now reopened.

There was no accident, no collision,  and according to an SQ spokesperson no one was injured.

Still it's pretty scary to think that you could be driving along, minding your own business and out of nowhere your car can just spontaneously combust.

The SQ were called on the scene at about 7:30 this morning and by the time they got there, firefighters were already on sight putting out the fire.

Here's a video of the car that caught fire:

If you were in the area you no doubt experienced a few slowdowns this morning.

According the latest traffic cam feed, the area seems to be clearing up quickly.
