TL;DR  A drug that is sometimes found in weight loss pills has been officially declared as toxic and potentially fatal by Health Canada.

The Wikipedia page for DNP states that "acute administration of 20–50 mg per kilogram of body weight in humans can be lethal."

DNP was used in the 1930's to treat obese patients in the United States. But due to its adverse effects, it was banned in the US in 1938 and declared unfit for human consumption.

Despite Dinitrophenol's illegal status in Canada and the United States, DNP can be found online and at sold at some gyms and is used mostly by athletes and bodybuilders.
