This one was a difficult search for me. Keep in mind that Toronto has some of the highest rent prices in Canada. Finding a studio, let alone a one-bedroom for $1000 or less is next to impossible. Sure, there's plenty of rooms and sublets available but this list is all about apartments, remember? I managed to find this place in Cabbagetown.
I'll be honest with you, this one is by far in the worst shape out of all the apartments on this list. However, this complex located at 280 Dundas East, is perfectly located for students and professionals who need to travel downtown. For $945, this is as good as it gets in Canada's largest metropolis.

Winnipeg, Manitoba (1bdrm for $885)
Winnipeg, or the 'Peg as the locals call it, is a great city for anyone looking for some prairie comforts. Known mostly as a cultural and artistic hub of classic Canadiana, Winnipeg isn't the first choice for many people. That's a real shame because this prairie city has a whole lot to offer. Well, this is embarrassing, Vancouver. I'm sorry to report that I couldn't find a single apartment for rent for under $1000 a month. Now, there are plenty of individual rooms where you can choose to live with a roommate ($900 a month) or like, six other people ($915 a month). Hey, at least you have access to all the weed in the world and views like these...right?
