What Dorval Will Look Like In The Near Future

A new project announced that will change Montreal's West Island.
What Dorval Will Look Like In The Near Future

Some big changes are coming to Dorval in the next few years, mainly around the airport area. For too long Montrealers have said that we need a quick and easy way to get to the airport that didn't involve a sweaty bus ride on the 747, a $50 cab ride, or begging your friends for a lift. No, it isn't a metro extension, but this might be even better.

Aéroports de Montréal has announced a project for a new light rail system to be integrated within the airport. The above-ground rail line would link the airport to Pointe-Claire, the South shore, as well as the downtown core. The plan was announced on May 19th along with a plan to add a second rail line across the Champlain Bridge. The project is aimed at modernizing Montreal's transit system.

There would be two new commuter hubs on the West Island near Fairview and at the corner of Sources and Brunswick. It would see an estimated 60,000 passengers a day.
