Come 2017, Parc Jean-Drapeau is going to like mighty fine. And I mean 90's style "foooiiiiinnnneee," if the picture above is an accurate depiction of the $55 million dollar makeover to be performed upon the area of Île Ste-Hélène.
While we already heard about the planned waterfront promenade, the construction of a path connecting the St. Laurence to the metro station, the addition of more green spaces, and the overall beautification of Places des Nations, having a visual representation makes the project look quite stunning, and justified in its spending.
Government officials like Denis Coderre and members of Projet Montreal may not be the biggest fans of Parc Jean-Drapeau's makeover, but we sure are. Just think how much more epic going to Piknic will bee, or Osheaga, or just chilling by the water in general. Exactly, it's going to be amazing. 2017 can't come soon enough.
Let's just hope the construction is all done over the winter, so as not to infringe on our summer fun.
Montreal's iconic Greenspot restaurant is selling hot dogs for $0.74 this weekend, September 18 and 19, to celebrate its 74th anniversary.
On Facebook, the Saint-Henri institution says it's converting its small parking lot on avenue Greene into a picnic area for the event.
And the wiener fun doesn't stop there. Greenspot is having a contest on its Instagram page where followers have the chance to win 74 hot dogs — a prize they can redeem at their discretion.
The restaurant invites followers to share the Instagram post and tag three friends to enter the contest.
Daily two-for-one deals have also been part of the 74th-anniversary celebrations.
Dating back to 1947, Greenspot serves American and Quebec diner classics (including a long list of hearty poutines) amid retro decor (including individual table jukeboxes — they don't work but they're super charming!).
