Random-and-awful weather has been a trend this summer in Montreal, and it seems like today will be no different.

Environment Canada has issued a “severe thunderstorm warning” for Montreal island area, along with the Longueuil, Châteauguay, and Longueuil.

Atmospheric conditions are “favourable for the development of dangerous thunderstorms” that may produce big chunks of hail, intense rain, and damaging gusts of wind, Environment Canada said in the warning.

“Severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes,” adds the warning, making a legit twister a possibility in Montreal today.

The weather-warning was issued early this morning at 4:09am. Environment Canada will release any updates as they come.

Whether or not the weather will produce a ton of rain or a full-blown tornado, no one knows. Not that anyone ever knows what Mother Nature is up to these days.

To be safe, though, you might want to bring an umbrella… or a Medieval shield and weighted boots. Who knows how huge the hail might be.
