Thanksgiving weekend means Monday is a holiday, giving the vast majority of us the day off to be thankful for everything we have and spend time with our family. Or, as is more likely, sleep in and eat massive amounts of food then sleep more in a turkey-induced coma. With a holiday, comes many closures, and rather than try to head out to the post office only to find it closed, get in the know with what is open and closed.
All the same stuff that are open/closed on most federal holidays are all back on this list, but just as a reminder, here's what to expect in terms of businesses, services, and stores open/closed on Thanksgiving weekend:
Closed
- All banks
- Federal and provincial offices
- Most municipal offices
- Pointe à Callière archeological museum
- Post Office
Open
- Garbage & recycling services that regularly occur on Mondays
- Most restaurants and bars
- Most supermarkets, malls, and retail locations (calling ahead a good idea though)
- All SAQ's (unless they happen to be in a mall that's closed)
- Montreal arenas, libraries, pools, and cultural certain (hours set by borough)
- Bonsecours, Jean-Talon, Atwater, and Maisonneuve markets (see here for hours)
- Biodome & Botanical Garden
- Metro & buses will operate on holiday schedules
- Parking meteres and restrictions will be in effect
