What's Really Inside A&W Canada's "Beyond Meat" Burger?

When I hear A&W, I think papa, mama and teen burger. I also think-MEAT when I hear A&W.

Recently, A&W released their "beyond the meat burger", which is a plant-based protein patty and only 500 calories but has 29g of fat! If you want to know our honest thoughts about this meat-alternative patty, you can read our review

When the burger was announced, A&W said it was totally plant based, In fact the main ingredients are: pea protein isolate, canola oil, and refined coconut oil.

But it turns out there are a lot more ingredients you didn't know about. These include:

Protein ingredients

  • Rice protein
  • Mung bean protein  

Vitamins & Minerals:

  • Dried yeast
  • Niacin [vitamin b3]
  • Pyridoxine hydrochloride [vitamin b6]
  • Thiamin hydrochloride [vitamin b1]
  • Riboflavin [vitamin b2]
  • Folic acid [vitamin b9]
  • Cyanocobalamin [vitamin b12]
  • D-calcium pantothenate
  • Pyridoxine hydrochloride
  • Biotin
  • Zinc sulfate

Colour blend

  • Vegetable glycerine
  • Maltodextrin
  • Ascorbic acid
  • Beet juice extract
  • Sunflower lecithin
  • Pomegranate fruit powder
  • Lycopene

Other ingredients:

  • Natural flavours
  • Methylcellulose (keeps food fresh)
