Why Your STM Bus Will Be Late All Winter Long

Monday was proof that STM metro and bus services are completely fucked.

The metro was shut down pretty much once a day for the last week, and almost half the bus routes were late or cancelled.

This week however, it was a combination of the snow and a labor dispute. But the fact it that your bus route will probably be fucked all winter long.

And that's because no matter how good we get at clearing the streets, and no matter how hard the STM employees are working, we will never be rid of the real problem: Construction.

Normally when you check the STM's info page about bus delays, you'll find a few bus routes on the list, but recently the number has skyrocketed.

Over 214 bus lines are affected by the construction is some way or another as of this morning.

And the sad part is that most of the are accompanied by the sentence "for an indefinite period" so many of them don't even say when things will be back to normal.

We're not kidding. And did we mention the STM only has about 250 bus routes? That means that less than 15% of the STM buses are actually running properly.

Here are just some of the bus routes affected by the construction:

51 Édouard-Montpetit direction WEST

Some bus stops have been relocated because of road conditions: 51031 (Queen-Mary / Trans Island). In effect from 15 September 2016 at 15 h 30 to 29 December 2016 at 18 h 30

54 Charland / Chabanel direction EAST
