WOW!!! Dawson College Has An Awesome Program For Independent Video Game Designers

The working world is tough. Whether you are currently looking for an academic program that will set you in the right direction or you’re already working full-time but find yourself dreaming about starting your own business, there’s a program that might be just what you need to help kick-start your dream job.

If you’re a so-called “gamer”, working in the video game industry probably sounds like a picture perfect job situation. Luckily for you, the Video Game industry is booming in Montreal, the only problem is that you probably have no idea how to get your foot in the door.

Well, there's great news, because Dawson College has an Independent Video Game Design Program! The two-year, tuition-free program (Quebec residents only) is offered at night from 6:30 to 9:30/10:30 PM, meaning that you can pursue your dreams without having to quit your day job.

This unique full-time program means that students are also eligible to apply for loans and bursaries! Think of it this way... Dawson is offering you a tuition-free program plus the chance to score some free money!

What’s more is that the program courses are taught by video game industry veterans. These people are the crème de la crème when it comes to their knowledge and experience in the game industry. They run their own successful independent Video Game companies, including Minority Media, Flying Carpets, Artifact 5, Sauropod Studio and more. That’s right, you’ll be learning from people who work at Ubisoft, Eidos, Gameloft, Warner Brosand EA to name a few. Seriously, what more could you ask for?

Whether you have some sort of experience in coding, art, music, marketing, design, writing or entrepreneurship, the program is open to everyone with a high school diploma, CEGEP  and University graduates in the creative and applied fields who would love to further their skills in the digital world (note that applicants must have graduated from high school at least 1 year prior to applying). Even if you're already employed as a Quality Assurance game tester, you can still apply for the program!

Females especially are encouraged to apply since the industry is in desperate need of their influence and perspectives. The video game world is heavily saturated by males so the more females they can integrate into the industry, the better!

The program offers 4 disciplines including Design, Programming, Art Creation and Entrepreneurship. So ladies and gentlemen, what are you waiting for? Get the tools you need from industry experts to find work in the Video Game field or even better, to start your own Independent Video Game Studio!

The Independent Video Game Design program is about to start accepting applications for the fall 2017 cohort, so don’t miss theInformation sessions on April 12 and April 25 at 6:30 PM in room 4C1, at Dawson College! You can also visit here for more details.
