Although there are tons of awesome places to cop yourself some mac and cheese in Montreal, one of the places that stands out the most is located in Montreal's Ville-Marie.

Mache (1655 Rue Saint-Denis) is a restaurant specializing in Quebec comfort food. Which means they've got everything good in the world, basically.

They have poutines (obvs); they have burgers; they have Pâté Chinois (!!); and, yes, they even have macaroni and cheese.

But this mac and cheese is unlike anything you've tasted so far.

Although they only offer two varieties of the dish, both are above and beyond amazing.

Their classic mac and cheese features a 6 cheese sauce, with decadent cheeses like brie, cheddar, and swiss, and bread crumbs on top.

Their "Le Macaroni Cochon" takes their regular mac and cheese, and adds 3 different types of pork (braised bacon, anyone?) as well as caramelized onion.

No matter which version you take, though, you're going to have a good time. Their mac and cheese is everything you'd expect - served piping hot, deliciously cheesy, and straight-up awesome - with the added benefit of being incredibly flavourful and, in a word: comforting.
