I've been saying for a while now that it seems like winter is just NOT ending. Just look at the weather today! It's April and yet we are having freezing rain storms and bursts of snow every couple of days. This is madness! It has to stop!
I'm this close to writing an angry letter to mother nature and asking her what on earth is going on. I'm used to putting away my winter jackets and boots by now. Usually, by this time of year, I am admiring the flowers sprouting up in my garden, not fearing the outdoors and slipping all over the place.
I decided that enough was enough and I needed to see if I really was losing it. So, I did some research and apparently, my hypothesis was correct. If we look at the average temperatures of the month of April in Montreal dating back 5 years, it has NEVER been this damn cold.
If we look at the maximum, average and minimum temperatures recorded every year, this year is not something pretty. This time last year, we were almost in the double digits! And yet now, the temperature is barely rising over the freezing point. This just isn't fair if you ask me.
Let's take a look at the last five years, shall we? These are the results of Montreal Weather Stats.
Now as you can see, at this time of the year, we can consistently see that the maximum temperature is in the 20s. When you take a look at what we've been getting this month, it's easy to see that we are definitely not reaching those numbers. Just see for yourself.
How disappointing is it to see that we're not even cracking double digits? I just want actual Spring to arrive so we can stop living in this Winter hell. Even the average temperature for this year is ridiculously lower!
Over the past five years, we've had average temperatures of 7.9°C, 4.3°C, 6.4°C, 5.8°C, and 6.3°C. What is it this year? 0.6°C! Something is seriously wrong here. The only hope that I have is that the month is not over yet! So maybe we will see things look up. Fingers crossed everyone!
