Narcity Media Inc. ("us", "we", "the Company", or "our") operates https://www.mtlblog.com (the "Site"). This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use and disclosure of personal information we receive from users of the Site.
We use your personal information only for providing and improving the Site. By using the Site, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. Unless otherwise defined in this Privacy Policy, terms used in this Privacy Policy have the same meanings as in our Terms and Conditions, accessible at https://www.mtlblog.com/terms-conditions.
Information collection and use
While using our Site, we may ask you to provide us with certain personally identifiable information that can be used to contact or identify you. Personally identifiable information may include, but is not limited to, your name, email address, postal address and phone number ("Personal Information").
Like many site operators, we collect information that your browser sends whenever you visit our Site ("Log Data"). This Log Data may include information such as your computer's Internet Protocol ("IP") address, browser type, browser version, the pages of our Site that you visit, the time and date of your visit, the time spent on those pages and other statistics.

By signing up for a user account, you agree to provide one or more of the following information for us to store on our servers:

- A Facebook or Google identifier;

Since you provide your own preferences, we do not use any suggestion algorithm based on your read history nor do we use any automated system based on your behaviour on the application.
In order to be compliant with the new Europe regulations about user data (GDPR), you can destroy your account at any time by going in your Account Settings. Doing so will result in the deletion of all information related to your account from our server.
If you have provided us with your email, we will also be storing your email with our email service provider, SendGrid. We will only be using this service to send you relevant emails such as new content and account updates. If you do not want us to send your email to SendGrid for communication purposes, please send us an email here.
Cookies
Cookies are files with small amount of data, which may include an anonymous unique identifier. Cookies are sent to your browser from a web site and stored on your computer's hard drive.
Like many sites, we use "cookies" to collect information. You can instruct your browser to refuse all cookies or to indicate when a cookie is being sent. However, if you do not accept cookies, you may not be able to use some portions of our Site.
The first-party cookies we set ourselves are __Host-milla_vid (reading continuity, up to 180 days), __Host-milla_vid_optout and __Host-milla_ads_optout (they remember that you turned a purpose off, 400 days) and milla_anon / milla_anon_consent (reader surveys, 180 days). Identifiers we set on this site and your choices
Reading continuity identifier. When you read an article on this site, our sign-in service (auth.mtlblog.com) sets a random, first-party identifier in a secure cookie on your browser. We use it for one purpose: to keep the articles you read on this browser together, so that if you later create or sign in to a Rewards account, your reading history can be connected to that account, and so that your reading continues across our sites (MTL Blog, Narcity and our link-in-bio pages) when you follow a link from one to the other. The identifier does not contain your name, email address or any account detail. It stays on your browser for up to 180 days from your last visit; identifiers we do not see again within 72 hours are deleted, and an identifier that is never connected to an account is deleted after at most 400 days. You can turn this off at any time from "Privacy choices" on the site: the identifier is revoked immediately, we stop recording reading activity for this browser, and the reading history associated with it is deleted. Deleting your Rewards account also deletes the identifiers and reading history connected to it.
Advertising identifier. When you visit our sites, our advertising system may receive a publisher-provided identifier that is derived from the first-party reading identifier described above (or, when you are signed in, from your account) using a one-way keyed function. It does not contain your name, email address or reading history. Google Ad Manager uses it to limit how often you see the same ad, to measure campaigns and, where you have consented, to personalize ads. It is not shared with advertising bidders or other third parties. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland it is used only with your consent through the consent banner; in US states with privacy laws it is not used if you have opted out of the sale or sharing of personal information or of targeted advertising. You can turn it off at any time from "Privacy choices" on the site; the identifier is then no longer produced and the standard advertising identifiers of our advertising partners (such as the Prebid shared identifier) are no longer set.
Your choices. Select the shield icon ("Privacy choices") in the bar at the top of any page to turn "Reading continuity" and "Advertising identifier" on or off separately. Your choice is remembered on this browser for 400 days. Where a consent banner is shown, its choices also apply, and turning a control on here does not override them. In Canada, including Quebec, both identifiers are used with this notice and can be turned off at any time. Questions or requests about these identifiers can be sent to the contact address below.
Security
The security of your Personal Information is important to us, but remember that no method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage, is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your Personal Information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

Our Site may contain links to other sites that are not operated by us. If you click on a third party link, you will be directed to that third party's site. We strongly advise you to review the Privacy Policy of every site you visit.
We have no control over, and assume no responsibility for, the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third party sites or services.
Changes to this privacy policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on the Site. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes. If a revision meaningfully reduces your rights, we will notify you at least thirty (30) days before the effective date of the changes. If we are involved in a merger, reorganization or if there is a change of control within our Company, your information may be transferred as part of that deal. In such case, we will notify you any such deal and outline your choices in that event.
