Canada's 'biggest' water park is a road trip from Montreal and you can speed down 35 slides
Grab your bathing suit and get ready to make a splash! If you're looking for the perfect spot to cool down this summer, you can visit a massive waterpark with rivers, pools, and thrill rides that's a short road trip from Montreal.
Located about an hour and a half from the city in Limgoes, near Ottawa, Calypso Theme Waterpark is a summer paradise with water rides and games perfect for soaking up the summer fun.
The park, which is said to be the biggest waterpark in Canada, offers a variety of activities and attractions that all ages can enjoy, from water slides and water games to themed rivers and pools.
The park boasts 35 waterslides in total, including the highest, free-standing waterslide tower in Canada, a huge wave pool, two themed rivers, beach volleyball courts and more.
The waterpark is a great summer spot for children and thrill-seekers alike. If you're looking for thrills, the park offers high-speed, heart-pumping waterslides like Aqualoops, a body slide where riders reach speeds of 60 kilometres per hour, going from 0 to 2.5Gs in less than two seconds.
Or, test your bravery at Black Hole, where riders dive full speed into a dark vortex with steep drops and tight turns.
The park also offers family-friendly zones like Pirates' Aquaplay, where kids can slide, climb, splash about and get soaked by a giant tipping bucket.
Besides waterslides, the park offers two themed river adventures where you can ride on calm currents, as well as a relaxing beach area where you can relax by the waves or swim in heated water.
Be sure to check out Calypso Palace, a gigantic wave pool the size of three NHL rinks that's said to be the largest wave pool in Canada. Here, you can lounge on the beach, splash around the water or take on the huge waves.
The fun doesn't stop there, though. The park also offers weekly events, including Foam Fests, which take place weekly from Thursday to Sunday, face painting every weekend and bingo on Thursdays.
If you work up an appetite, Calypso Park has a number of restaurants offering everything from pizza and burgers to nachos and quesadillas. There are also multiple spots to grab a frozen treat or a cocktail.
Visitors are also welcome to bring their own lunch into the park and enjoy it at one of the many picnic tables located throughout the site.
The park is open rain or shine, and tickets are available online, with daily tickets starting at $52.99 per person. You can also snag season passes if you're planning to visit more than once.
If you want to enhance your visit, the park also offers private cabanas for up to six people, which can be reserved online.
