As an empowering account, what do you believe are the main things someone should do every day to practice self-love?
Overall, we believe that the main way someone should practice self-love is by treating themselves like we treat our loved ones. When a loved one comes into our home, we treat them with the utmost care. We make sure they are fed; we make sure they are having a good time… We should do the same thing within ourselves. Our being is our home and we need to make sure that it is well taken care of so it can continue to shine.
We choose to show this by making sure our morning routine sets the tone for our day. Simply meditating or praying in the morning can make a big difference.
For example, Cérine sometimes takes a moment to stare at herself in the mirror and remind herself how beautiful she is.
On the other hand, Hellaya chooses to have an hour of silence in the morning so she can be at peace with herself and her environment.
It is important to take the time to be there for ourselves every day. When you feel anxious or when you feel happy, it helps to take the time to deconstruct our thoughts and understand what’s going on and how we can cancel the negative thoughts/emotions we feel or how we can continue to thrive in the positive feelings we feel.
This can be done by journaling, writing down our thoughts, listening to motivational audiobooks or anything of the sort.Â
Why is self-love so important to practice amid a pandemic?
The pandemic was a reality check for all of us. It helped us see things that we may have not been able to see due to the many distractions found in our society when the main focus is working, going to school, making sure our social life isn’t neglected and such things.
For many of us, being confined kind of forced us to deal with ourselves on a deeper level. Self-love is already hard enough to keep up with without a pandemic, but when you are stuck with your own space, your own self, that’s when you get to know who you really are. The pandemic showed us that it is important to fall back and get to know who we are because if you don’t put in the work to cater to yourself, how can you contribute to making your surroundings a better place for you and your peers?
Like our, sister Lauryn Hill, taught us; we live in a world where we co-depend on each other but how can we do that if we aren’t right within?Â
Why did you feel the need to focus on a female empowerment account? Can anyone use your account for inspo?
Our team has 4 different but very strong women. We all come from different backgrounds, where the importance of women can easily be neglected or overlooked, yet we have seen our mothers, our aunts and our sisters make the impossible happen many times.
At 4LESFEMMES, we are all aware that there is a light shining in all of us. Our platform allows us to project and shine our light onto the world, onto the women in our community. By doing so, we hope to inspire them to do the same and to shine so hard that the world won’t be able to dim it.
We decided to create our platform so our women can feel celebrated, so they can be reminded of how important they are. A home where they are allowed to be vulnerable and accepted at the same time. We took the initiative to create a norm where women choose each other and come together to create magic.
