Montreal Is Closing A Bunch Of Wading Pools 'Indefinitely' & 3 Regular Pools For Summer
The city is shutting down several Montreal wading pools indefinitely due to "difficulties in complying with the provincial regulation respecting water quality," confirmed Pascale Sévigny, communications officer for the City of Montreal.
Sévigny said the Institut national de santé public (INSPQ) recommended closing wading pools that don't have "water circulation and treatment systems," which allow for maintenance of their chlorine levels and for disinfection, due to the COVID-19 situation.

This includes "fill-empty type pools," which are not equipped for water treatment systems and are normally disinfected in other ways.
The following wading pools in Montreal are closed indefinitely:
Henri-Julien (Ahuntsic-Cartierville) - A filtration system will be added in 2021-2022. The city expects that the work will begin in the fall for an opening in 2022.
Jean-Brillant (Côte-des-Neiges–Notre-Dame-de-Grâce) - A filtration system will be added, but the city could not specify when.
Jeanne-Mance (Le Plateau–Mont-Royal) - It is a fill-empty type pool and will be closed for the 2021 summer season.Â
La Fontaine (Le Plateau–Mont-Royal) - It is a fill-empty type pool and will be closed for the 2021 summer season.Â
Saint-Aloysius (Mercier–Hochelaga-Maisonneuve) - A filtration system will be added in 2021-2022, but the city could not specify when.
Saint-Victor (Mercier–Hochelaga-Maisonneuve) - There are plans to transform the wading pool into a water playground, but the city was not able to specify when.
Jarry (Villeray–Saint-Michel–Parc-Extension) - It is a fill-empty type pool and will be closed for the 2021 summer season.
De Sienne (Villeray–Saint-Michel–Parc-Extension) - A filtration system will be added, but the city could not specify when.
The wading pool at Parc des Vétérans in Ville-Marie, which was closed last year, is now being renovated and will be open this summer.Â
All outdoor swimming pools in Montreal are scheduled to remain open for the summer, save for three.
The following swimming pools in Montreal will be closed for the summer:
Raymond (LaSalle) - Work will be done to transform the pool into a skatepark and water play area over the summer.
Marlborough (Saint-Laurent) - This pool will be closed due to technical problems.
Baldwin (Plateau–Mont-Royal) - The current state of this pool isn't sufficient. Work is scheduled to begin in September, and within the next few weeks, the borough will provide other options for the area's population to cool off during the summer months.
Most pool facilities will reopen during the weeks of June 12 and 19 and the majority of the water features are already open to the public, Sévigny told MTL Blog.
